Mark Oldfield – Vocal Consultant

Mark’s musical education began at school playing the piano and in a brass band that toured many countries. Upon graduation from Colchester School of Music, Mark studied singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Britten-Pears School in Suffolk and the Royal College of Music Opera School.

On his debut as Eugene Onegin, Mark was commended for his “richly expressive baritone and mature acting technique” [Daily Telegraph]. He has enjoyed an international career in opera, oratorio and song recitals with solo appearances at the Royal Opera Covent Garden, Scottish Opera, La Monnaie Brussels, New Israeli Opera and Antwerp Opera. His core repertoire of Mozart, Rossini, Britten and leading contemporary composers suited his lyrical approach to singing and his interest in the drama of the text. He has worked with leading directors that include Francesca Zambello, Graham Vick and Simon Callow and has toured throughout India, USA, Europe and the Middle and Far East. Performances in festivals include Buxton, Edinburgh, Istanbul, Lagos, Singapore, Dubai and Crete, and in Britain’s cathedrals and concert venues with leading conductors that include Sir Charles Mackerras and Nicholas Kraemer.

A deep passion for teaching and facilitating creative projects has led to Mark’s work as Animateur and Singing teacher for a range of arts and educational organisations, charities and musical organisations. This work is listed on his website: www.vocalcraftwork.com.

Mark is a member of the British Voice Association with public liability insurance arranged through the Incorporated Society of Musicians. More information can be found on www.markoldfield.net.
